According to Word Finder (2016) it stated
that Gunung (also
known as Gunong) is the Malay and Indonesian word for mountain - it
is regularly used in volcano and mountain names throughout Southeast Asia.
Gunung Arong is also known as Mount Arong which located
at Mersing, Johor, Malaysia. It is a nature reserve that combine mountain, blue
sea and white sandy beach. Mount Arong only 275m high and offers a view over the
horizon of South China Sea in Peninsular Malaysia.

We departure at 7 o’clock in the morning by around
2-hour drive away from Johor Bahru. We reached there at 9:25AM and started to
hike up.
During the hiking, there are many big rock and rope
for us to hike the decline area.
The trail is quite slope. It is a challenge to us when
hiking.
After 1 hour, we have reached the peak of the Mount
Arong. There are another group of hikers also reached the peak and they have
brought some fruits such as papayas and watermelon. They gave us a slice of
each fruits. We are enjoyed the beautiful view here around half an hour.
After rest, we transverse by hiking down from the
other side of Mount Arong which will lead you to a sandy beach. The trail was a
bit challenge to us too. It took around one and half hours to reached the
beach. The view of the beach is very beautiful to us and chill-out at the beach
and enjoy a dip in the sea and then trek back to the vehicle pick-up point.
