Kluang is a district located in Johor while the Gunung Lambak is one of
the symbols of Kluang, Johor. It is a recreational forest where you can have
activities such as mountain climbing, picnic, having fun at the water park and
enjoy scenery of the nature there.
It is like a combination of two mountains so there are two summits which
are the North Hill and the South Hill. Therefore, there are two different
pathways for you to choose. Besides, you are able to choose whether you prefer
the concrete path or the 100% jungle track but both paths are having the same
starting point. If you are not familiar with the route of jungle track, then
you are not encouraged to explore it alone.
As the first attempt to Gunung Lambak, we have chosen to climb the North Hill and challenge the 100% jungle track.
This is the big signboard of
Gunung Lambak at the middle hill. At the middle hill, you can see people doing
some stretching exercises and the elderlies chit-chatting or playing chess around
here as there are stone tables and chairs available here.
It is also being beautified
with nice decorations around the nature environment here such as the ponds.
It is quite challenging
along the whole journey as it is 100% jungle track and we were not practiced to
climb this kind of pathways. Some of the land are loosening and is slippery
after the overnight rain, so we have to step on the firm land or tree roots in
order to go ahead. As it is a nature hill, the land is rugged. Sometimes it is
even hard to step up to the land that exceeds your height is able to reach.
For safety purpose, there are firm ropes for the climbers along the way
where there are high slopes. We have to leverage on the ropes to move on as it
is extremely dangerous if you did not rely on the ropes where gravity will
cause to fall and roll down from the hill.
However, the view along the way is nice and we can feel the atmosphere
of nature and the natural wind and air that you have no chances to get from developed
town area.
We took nearly 2 hours to
reach to the top of the North Hill. There is a signboard at the peak showing
that Gunung Lambak has a height of 510m which equals to 1673ft from the sea
level.
The scenery at the top of the
hill is amazed where you are able to enjoy the outlook of Kluang and found
everything buildings are to be seemed that small from the height.
There are lots of monkeys gathered around at the top of the forest. Some
of the monkeys are big and strong and you should be aware if you have food with
you.
We took another route to go down from the hill and we passed by a
hanging bridge which is one of the significant features at the Gunung Lambak.
Finally we were back to the starting point by spending around 3 and half hours
for the whole journey. It is a nice experience where you must give a try when
visit to Kluang.
